I say mostly because when one gets to the double cake section of the mini-game, the controls were very clunky and I couldn't place some of the decorations, so I lost Stars. There are upgrades in the game for equipment based on money, and others based on Stars. Nice assortment of products. Graphics colorful and fairly crisp. Cake decorations could be a tad bit larger, but still okay. Good challenge.

I'm so happy!!! I was a HUGE Cake Maniac and have been saddened over the years by not being able to play all of the games on the newer PCs. Sorry, the phone version just didn't do it for me. The minute I started to play this game, I knew I had found what I'd been looking for. There's enough challenge to make this game fun, but not so much to be frustrating. The play is familiar, being just like Cake Mania. The story line is minimal, and could be enhanced, but that's ok.
I don't like games with a lot of story that takes away from game play. A few more levels, and a touch more challenge would have been great. I wasn't partial to the mini games, perhaps a little more variety in them would be good.
Or more game levels and no minigames. Please, please, please more games just like this! In my opinion, the CE version of Katy & Bob: Cake Cafe, was the most unworthy CE I've ever seen! Both versions offer 60 Levels and 12 Trophy Achievements, the CE version didn't even offer a Strategy Guide or Bonus Levels, so if you waited for this version, you'll be glad you did! This is a point and click TM style game, where you click the customer to give them a menu first, and then click on the item they order, deliver the order to the correct person and click to check them out.
You don't have to drag anybody or anything (a feature I really find annoying) After checking the customers out, they will reward you with a tip that requires another click or scan on the coins to collect your tip. The slower you are at doing these tasks, will directly affect your tip, with gold, silver or bronze coins earned. The 'expert' goal amount is shown before the start of each level, and there are Bonus Goals available (but not required) which are shown at the bottom, such as collecting money from three consecutive customers. As you progress, more menu items are added and the cake decorations get slightly more complex. After each level, you can use the money you earn to buy items or upgrades from the shop. You can buy extra serving stations, increase the price of items or upgrade flooring etc. To keep customers happier longer.
The graphics are rather flat and not very vivid which makes this game seem a bit old-fashioned when compared to other TM games lately. After playing several amazing Time Management games over the last couple of weeks, Katy & Bob pales in comparison. It seems like they are stuck in the past.This release shows little progress or improvement over the past 6 years, since Katy & Bob was first released.

I played Cake Cafe a few months ago on another venue and found it to be fun at first. I always strive to get a top score on each level by completing the goals for each level. However, there were three things I didn't like about this new adventure for Katy and Bob:.

Had to double and triple click on customers and items to complete actions. Controls were quite sticky a lot of the time. Wasting time like this caused customers to get angry. There was no easy mode to play in, so I became just as frustrated as the customers. Game play got difficult quite quickly with new items introduced before I could get the hang of the current inventory. Upgrades were not available for the new products until several levels later.
Not enough coins awarded when you consider all the fast-paced mayhem you have to go through to complete your goals and score well. Upgrading Katy's serving skills and Bob's cooking skills take forever because you use coins, and not money, to purchase them. It's a cute game with a light-hearted theme, but I found it simply too frustrating to play. Also, if you have played previous versions of Katy and Bob's adventures, you'll find this game's interface is exactly the same.
